Planning for Change, Implementing and Evaluating EBP Essay Assignments

Assignment 1: Applying EBP Strategies

In this assignment, we focus on applying Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) to bring about positive changes in healthcare. We explore the factors that either support or hinder change within healthcare organizations. Understanding the interconnectedness of different systems is crucial when working on an EBP project.

In the previous week’s discussion, you analyzed the macro and micro systems in your practicum organization, considering their impact on your EBP Assignment issue. In this part of Application 4, reflect on the feedback you received from your colleagues on your Microsoft PowerPoint presentation. What new insights did you gain from their input? Consider how you can adjust your strategies for resolving the issue based on this feedback.

Prepare for this week’s section of Application 4 in the following way:

  • Refine Desired Outcomes and Strategies:
    • Build on the insights gained from this week’s Discussion to further refine your desired outcomes and strategies for addressing the issue.
  • Evaluate Impact on Quality and Patient Safety:
    • Continue evaluating, based on this week’s Discussion, how resolving the issue will contribute to enhancing quality and patient safety.
  • Integration into Application Paper:
    • Incorporate the refined outcomes, strategies, and evaluations into your Application paper. Avoid using PowerPoint for this integration.

By Day 7 of Week 10 of Assignment 1, submit Application 4: Planning for Change, Implementing and Evaluating EBP Assignments. No submissions are required for this week. Utilize tables where necessary to present information more effectively in your Application paper.

NURS 8410 Week 9 Assignment 2: Application 5 – Disseminating EBP Findings

The goal of translating evidence into practice in nursing is to advance the field, and a crucial step in this process is dissemination. This involves sharing information gained from evidence translation projects to contribute to the nursing profession’s knowledge base. To prepare for this week’s section of Application 5:

  • Continue from Discussion:
    • Analyze the role of the DNP-prepared nurse in scholarship based on insights from this week’s Discussion.
  • Full Application 5 Deadline:
    • Complete the entire Application 5 by Day 6 of Week 11.

Assignment Details:

Your scholarly product for dissemination must include:

    • Describe the larger problem or issue addressed in your DNP Project.
    • Identify your practice-focused question.
    • Explain how the problem or issue impacts nursing practice and the healthcare system.
    • Describe how your DNP Project explored strategies for addressing the problem.
  • Evidence (2 points):
    • Specify the practice setting and context of your project.
    • Provide a summary of the evidence supporting your project.

Week in Review:

  • Applied systems theory to evaluate quality improvement and safety initiatives.

Next Week’s Focus:

  • Explore the evaluation of new practice approaches.
  • Delve into translating research evidence into new guidelines for practice and standards of care in Application 4.

NURS 8410 Week 9: Identifying Outcomes in Healthcare

“In a large, complex organization, the effects of our actions may not be immediately clear. The consequences could be in the distant future or in another interconnected part of the larger system we operate in. This makes it challenging to understand the root causes of current problems within our organizations. We may struggle to see the underlying structures or behavior patterns that lead to less-than-ideal outcomes” (Zaccagnini & White, 2011, p. 45).

Shift in Perspective for a Fuller View:

This week, we explore how to shift this perspective to gain a more comprehensive understanding of dynamics in today’s healthcare organizations. By doing so, we aim to enhance the achievement of positive outcomes related to quality and safety.

Revisiting Systems Theory:

Building on your previous courses, you’ll revisit systems theory and examine the interrelationships within an organization. This week’s focus involves assessing an issue within an organization, analyzing the system at both macro- and micro-levels. Strategies to assess the clinical environment and associated nonclinical units supporting quality provision will be identified. Moreover, outcomes related to quality and safety will be developed.

Practicum and Application 4:

While continuing your practicum experience, you will also progress with Application 4, engaging in planning for change, implementing, and evaluating Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) initiatives.
