NURS 6550 – Advanced Practice Care of Adults in Acute Care Settings I aims to equip advanced practice nurses with specialised skills needed to effectively assess and care for patients in the hospital setting. It focuses on preparing students to deliver high-quality care to acutely and critically ill patients. Throughout the course, students will learn about the role of advanced practice nurses and build confidence in providing care for acutely ill individuals. The curriculum includes assignments and clinical practice in acute care settings, allowing students to plan, implement, and evaluate care for critically ill patients. Additionally, the course enhances students’ understanding of pharmacologic management for hospitalized patients, building upon knowledge gained in previous coursework.

Note: This course requires a minimum of 144 practicum hours.
