NURS 8210 Week 2: Assignment DEVELOPING A SMALL NURSING INFORMATICS PROJECT FOR YOUR ORGANIZATION, PART 1

You’ll be using project management tools and strategies to propose how to support a small nursing informatics project. While you might not actually carry out this project, it helps you apply the necessary skills and considerations needed to understand how such a project could happen in your nursing practice. Your task is to define a small informatics project that would benefit your healthcare organization or nursing practice. Discuss this idea with upper leadership, and let them know you’ll be designing, planning, and proposing how to implement and evaluate this project within a 9-week time frame during this course. This project consists of two parts.

TO GET READY

Keep working with a manager to finalize a small informatics project for your organization. If time permits, you might also implement and evaluate the outcomes. Each week, you’ll work on a different aspect of the project.

BY DAY 7 OF WEEK 5

Continue working on the Scope, Charter, and SWOT Analysis, as assigned so far. You’ll add Gap, WBS, Project Timeline in the coming weeks (six tools; 8–9 pages including application and rationale for tools) to be submitted in Week 5.

FOR WEEK 2, CONDUCT A SWOT ANALYSIS

For the project design, perform a SWOT analysis, which will give information for the Scope and Charter. You can use a Word document and insert a table. The video “How to Perform a SWOT Analysis” provides directions. Some of the content is relevant to both the project for this course and your DNP Project or dissertation. Basically, the first step for any project or work requires a plan: what you will and will not do. This information is defined in a project scope and charter. You are not required to submit this assignment this week.
